Op. 36 – Mountain Top Wedding

a) Clarinet, Violin, Organ

b) Piano, Violin, Viola, Violoncello

Mountain Top Wedding was written for, and first performed at the wedding of a dear friend. The bride requested a piece that would be lyrical and romantic, rather than marching and ceremonial. A violin solo represents the feminine voice, a clarinet solo (viola in version b) the masculine voice, then the two combine with the tune of the familiar wedding processional from Lohengrin forming a cantus firmus in the bass.
