Op. 48 – 40 Elementary Clarinet Duets

These 40 Elementary Clarinet Duets were meant to provide interesting and musically satisfying learning material for students still struggling with the basics of playing. It is assumed that the student will play the first part and the teacher the more difficult second part.

The duets are arranged in an order consistent with the progression of beginning students in learning the notes of the clarinet, beginning with open G and the notes playable by the left hand, adding the right hand for the chalumeau register, and finally introducing the clarion register.

The teacher may wish to assign the second part of certain duets once the student has completed the book. The application of the numerous dynamic and expression marks is at the liberty of the instructor according to the ability of the student.

It is the composer's hope that the student will wish to revisit these works for fun and musical enjoyment as their skills progress.
